Adams County Bicentennial News Conference

          January 22, 1999 - The Adams County Bicentennial Committee held a News Conference to announce that Adams County is having a Bicentennial.  We invited several historic personalities from Adams county's past. Among those accepting are Pres. John Adams, Pres. Abraham Lincoln, Pres. George Washington, Pres. Dwight Eisenhower, Mamie Eisenhower, Mary Jemison, John Digges, a Scottish Settler, a soldier from Co. K, John Steelman, John Burns and Eddie Plank. Who are these people? We are taking pictures of the events.

          Meanwhile, the Research Committee is hard at work writing history stories to be published here. The Education Committee has meet with all the schools in the County and are planning projects.  So the planning continues and the countdown is on to the beginning of the Bicentennial Celebration in June 1999.  We'll keep you informed every step of the way.
