Pickett's Charge Advance III
Pictures taken July 5, 1998 at the 135th Reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg.
The long gray lines of Confederate infantry make the Battle of Gettysburg come alive and take up back to another time.
As they approach the Emmitsburg Road, Federal artillery fire decimates both men and fence. Still, the line advances.
Thousands of shouldered rifles creates a ghostly atmosphere.
Moving closer and closer to the entrenched Federal forces, the Confederates are easy targets for the Union sharpshooters.
As the Southern infantry moves ahead to the angle in the stone wall at the copse of trees, the corners of the Union line turn inward and fire. The Confederate line is then surrounded on three sides.
