Pictures taken August 9, 2003 during the 140th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Gifted and talented historians flank two sides of the field bringing the events, sights and sounds of 140 years ago back to life.

Troop movements are choreographed to attempt a good view for all.
Lines form with determination and spirit to plant the Southern banner on the walls of the enemy. Horse couriers deliver orders from the commanders. In front, Union sharpshooters take careful aim.
General Pickett and his staff watch his troops across the field as they line up for battle. General Meade's staff awaits the Confederate advance.
