From New York City (3.5 hours)

From the Holland Tunnel continue West on Interstate 78 through New jersey and into Pennsylvania.  About 40 miles east of Harrisburg, Interstates 78 and 81 merge.  Without exiting you will transfer onto I-81.  I-78 ends.  Just east of Harrisburg, take the left exit that is I-83.  Several miles down I-83, take the right exit to Route 581.  This takes you across the Susquehanna River to US 15.  Take the second US-15 exit (on right) which is US 15 South.  Gettysburg is about 35 miles down US 15.

From Washington, DC (1.75 hours)

From the Capital Beltway take Interstate 270 north to Frederick, Maryland.  In Frederick, continue on US-15 and travel north to Gettysburg.

From Baltimore (1.5 hours)

Take the I-695 Beltway to Interstate 795.  Continue on until it turns into Route 140 approaching Westminster, Maryland.  Through Westminster, take the right exit onto Route 97 North, Gettysburg is about 30 miles north on Route 97.

From Philadelphia (2.5 hours) or Pittsburgh (3.5)

Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (interstate 76 to the Harrisburg area.  Take the right exit onto US-15 South.  Gettysburg is about 30 miles down US 15.

From Hartford, CT (5 hours) & New England (Boston - 7.5 hours)

From the Hartford area, take Interstate 84 West through New York to Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Near Scranton, transfer to Interstate 81 South.  Harrisburg is about two hours south.  Just east of Harrisburg, take the left exit that is I-83.  Several miles down I-83, take the right exit to Route 581.  This takes you across the Susquehanna River south of Harrisburg to US 15.  Take the second US 15 exit, (on right) which is US 15 South.  Gettysburg is about 35 miles down US 15.

From Washington-Dulles International Airport (1.5 hours)

Take Route 267 West to Leesburg, Virginia.  Transfer to US 15 north.  From Leesburg, Gettysburg is about 50 miles north on US 15 via Frederick, Maryland.

From Harrisburg (PA) International Airport (1 hour)

Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (interstate 76) West.  Take the right exit onto US-15 South.  Gettysburg is about 30 miles down US 15.

From Harpers Ferry (1 hour)

Take US 340 East to Frederick, Maryland.  Take the left exit (be careful) to US 15 North.  Gettysburg is about 30 miles north on US 15.

From the Shenandoah Valley

Take Interstate 81 to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.  Take the US 30 exit heading east.  Gettysburg is about 25 miles east on US 30.
