Park Service free winter lecture series in 2012 will explore events and
personalities who figured prominently in 1862, as well as perspectives on
the Gettysburg Campaign and Battle.

On Saturday, March 10th... Departments will be in their "prime" for Springfest from 10:30am to 1pm as they are judged to see who will become this year's Springfest winner. Departments to visit are Admin, Sport Shop, Alpine Market, Children's Learning Center, Groups, Ski Rentals, Cashiers at the Ticket Windows, Hotel, Guest Services, and Courtesy at Ski/Snowboard Check. On Saturday, there will live entertainment in the base area, as well as games and activities for the entire family! Stay tuned for more details closer to the event.

Beginning at 1pm, skiers and boarders will ride from the top of the Dipsy Quad to the "pond" in the base area snow, hoping to make it all the way across as they "skim" on the water. Do you think you can make it across? Grab your skis and snowboards and turn them into waterskis and wakeboards for a day! And don't forget your costume! Brian Matthew Jordan is in the third year of work on a Ph.D. at Yale University with noted Civil War historian David W. Blight. He graduated as Valedictorian of the Gettysburg College Class of 2009, earning a B.A. (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) in History and Civil War Era Studies. Brian is a cultural historian of the American Civil War, and his work at present focuses on questions of trauma and historical memory. |
