Wed 1 10:00 am and 4:00 pm Educational The Battle of Gettysburg - An Overview This summer the Gettysburg National Military Park is offering two indoor programs. "The Battle of Gettysburg - An Overview" is a 30-minute program about the Gettysburg Campaign and all three days of battle.

The program is offered daily at 10:00 am and 4:00 pm in the Ford Motor Company Fund Education Center.

J. David Petruzzi is widely recognized as one of the country's leading Gettysburg experts. In addition to his numerous articles for a wide variety of publications, he is the author (with Eric Wittenberg) of bestsellers "Plenty of Blame to Go Around: Jeb Stuart's Controversial Ride to Gettysburg", and (with Wittenberg and Michael Nugent) "One Continuous Fight: The Retreat From Gettysburg and the Pursuit of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, July 4-14, 1863". 
 
Steven Stanley lives in Gettysburg and is a graphic artist specializing in historical map design and battlefield photography. His maps, considered among the best in historical cartography, have been a longtime staple of the Civil War Preservation Trust and have helped raise millions of dollars for the Trust through their preservation appeals and interpretation projects. Steve's maps have appeared in a wide variety of publications.

Wed 1 6:00pm & 6:30pm Educational Historic Church Tours Enjoy a walk along old town streets of Gettysburg as you visit our historic churches. Eight churches participate (four each week) and allow you to go inside and hear heroic stories about what happened in that church during and after the battle.  You will be able to admire the many beautiful features of our historic churches while short programs are presented about the sacrifices made by the citizens.  You'll also hear about the conditions found around Gettysburg in the aftermath of the fighting. 717-334-9013 These 90 minute tours begin in front of the Presbyterian church, 208 Baltimore St. (two blocks from the square). The first at 6 pm and a second at 6:30 pm. No reservations are required but show up at least ten minutes prior to departure time to purchase tickets - Adults are $5; Children 12 and under are free.  Park free behind the church.

The churches toured on the following Wednesdays (6/3, 6/17, 7/1, 7/15, 7/29, & 8/12) are: Presbyterian, Trinity UCC, Methodist and St. James Lutheran. 

On the alternate Wednesdays (6/10, 6/24, 7/8, 7/22, 8/5 & 8/19) the churches toured are:  Prince of Peace Episcopal, St. Francis Roman Catholic

Fri 3 8:30 am Living History Gettysburg 146th National Civil War Battle Reenactment The Gettysburg 146th National Civil War Battle Reenactment is an all-day family event. The gates open at 8:30 a.m., each day will include two exciting battles, field demonstrations, live mortar fire demonstrations, two activities tents with continuous living history programs, and a living history village with all-day activities. The July 3-5, 2009 Gettysburg Reenactment will be held on Pumping Station Road ( the former "Yingling Farm"), Gettysburg.717-338-1525 Visitors are invited to shop in the very impressive "Sutler Row" where they will discover period-style clothing and wares or walk through the military camps to experience 1860's military life and talk to these living historians.

General admission tickets and general admission tickets with grandstand seating are both available. The grandstand seating normally sells out in advance so call early for reservations.

A self-taught pattern maker, foundry-maker, and craftsman, Mr. Funt has combined his skills to forge a final product of unique art - handcrafted artillery pieces. Wed 8 6:00pm & 6:30pm Educational Historic Church Tours Enjoy a walk along old town streets of Gettysburg as you visit our historic churches. Eight churches participate (four each week) and allow you to go inside and hear heroic stories about what happened in that church during and after the battle.  You will be able to admire the many beautiful features of our historic churches while short programs are presented about the sacrifices made by the citizens.  You'll also hear about the conditions found around Gettysburg in the aftermath of the fighting. Wed 15 6:00pm & 6:30pm Educational Historic Church Tours Enjoy a walk along old town streets of Gettysburg as you visit our historic churches. Eight churches participate (four each week) and allow you to go inside and hear heroic stories about what happened in that church during and after the battle.  You will be able to admire the many beautiful features of our historic churches while short programs are presented about the sacrifices made by the citizens.  You'll also hear about the conditions found around Gettysburg in the aftermath of the fighting. No reservations are required but show up at least ten minutes prior to departure time to purchase tickets - Adults are $5; Children 12 and under are free.  Park free behind the church.

The churches toured on the following Wednesdays (6/3, 6/17, 7/1, 7/15, 7/29, & 8/12) are: Presbyterian, Trinity UCC, Methodist and St. James Lutheran.

Wed 29 6:00pm & 6:30pm Educational Historic Church Tours Enjoy a walk along old town streets of Gettysburg as you visit our historic churches. Eight churches participate (four each week) and allow you to go inside and hear heroic stories about what happened in that church during and after the battle.  You will be able to admire the many beautiful features of our historic churches while short programs are presented about the sacrifices made by the citizens.  You'll also hear about the conditions found around Gettysburg in the aftermath of the fighting.
