Mr. Scarlato is a retired educator who has been collecting materials on the 19th
century African American experience, the Battle of Gettysburg and Adams County
history for over 30 years. Special Collections is honored to have these unique
primary sources on exhibit for our students and researchers. This exhibit coincides with Gettysburg College’s American Civil War Sesquicentennial commemoration. The College will sponsor events and programs throughout the anniversary. 2013 will mark the 150th anniversary of the enactment of the Emancipation Proclamation, the Battle of Gettysburg, and President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. |
