Sat 2 10:30 am Educational 150th Historic 1776 Dobbin House Tours Enjoy a free tour of the oldest, most historic house in Gettysburg, the Dobbin House. Built in 1776 by the Rev. Alexander Dobbin, his stone house spans three centuries of American history, from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War and beyond. Historic 1776 Dobbin House

717-334-2100 View all the historically decorated rooms while interacting with period antiques to understand how the homes occupants lived during the 18th and 19th centuries.

You'll hear about how the Dobbin family planned to defend themselves from Indian attacks, what the Heck family experienced during the Battle of Gettysburg, and take a peek in the kitchen of the current restaurant.

Offered throughout the year of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, this free tour meets at 10:30 am in the Dobbin House gift shop. See or call for specific dates, www.dobbinhouse.com, or 717-334-2100.

Tours will be offered May 25-27, Saturdays in June, as well as June 23 and 25-30. July 1-7; 9-14; 17-19, 21, 23-28 and July 30-31. Tours will be available Tuesdays through Sundays in August with the exception of Wednesday August 20. Tours will take place every weekend September and October, with the exception of October 12. Tours will be offered November 2, 9, 16-19, and 22-24.

Sat 23 1:00pm 150th Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremonies Sponsored by the Union Veterans of the Civil War An annual event held in conjunction with the Gettysburg Address anniversary. A parade of Civil War living history groups begins at 1:00pm. Gettysburg, Pa 17325   The parade will form at 12:00 PM on Lefever Street and move at 1:00 PM sharp. The route of the parade will be as follows; Exiting Lefever Street onto East Confederate Ave. and turning west onto East Middle Street. Upon striking Baltimore Street the parade will turn south and then veer south west onto Steinwehr Ave where it will terminate at the National Park.

Cap off a day of parades and ceremonies by attending the premier Civil War ball held each year on Remembrance Day. Members of Civil War hereditary groups, both Union and Confederate, and all military and civilian reenactors and all supporters of Civil War preservation are welcome to join in the festivities. Tickets are available from Brigadier General Henry E. Shaw, Jr., Deputy Commander of the SVR. Music will be by the Philadelphia Brigade Band with dance instruction by the Victorian Dance Ensemble Performing Troupe of the Civil War Dance Foundation. The net proceeds from this ball are donated to the Gettysburg National Military Park for monument preservation.

Enter the 19th century home of George, Hettie, Sadie (7), and Mollie (5) Shriver as they prepare for the upcoming Christmas holidays. See the candle-ladenChristmas tree in its place of honor on the parlor table as a fire roars in the fireplace of the handsome room decorated with hand-made holiday greenery. After hanging stockings on the mantle, the girls set out milk and cookies in anticipation of a visit from Santa Claus on that magical night. While soldiers faced the perils of the Civil War, Christmas offered a few moments of cheer that would help brighten the lives of those at home. Learn how families celebrated the holidays while fathers, sons, and husbands were separated from loved ones during this tragic time in American history.

You'll hear about how the Dobbin family planned to defend themselves from Indian attacks, what the Heck family experienced during the Battle of Gettysburg, and take a peek in the kitchen of the current restaurant.

Offered throughout the year of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, this free tour meets at 10:30 am in the Dobbin House gift shop. See or call for specific dates, www.dobbinhouse.com, or 717-334-2100.

Tours will be offered May 25-27, Saturdays in June, as well as June 23 and 25-30. July 1-7; 9-14; 17-19, 21, 23-28 and July 30-31. Tours will be available Tuesdays through Sundays in August with the exception of Wednesday August 20. Tours will take place every weekend September and October, with the exception of October 12. Tours will be offered November 2, 9, 16-19, and 22-24.
